Everyone wants to know the weather, right?

Well, we will be posting weather updates starting mid April and will run all through the summer. NOW ALL YEAR!!!

How and Why?

First of all, why?

Because everyone wants to know what to expect from the weather on their holidays, right?
Second, it’s actually quite hard to find accurate forecasts for Halkidiki. Most reports come from the airport, and while generally these are accurate, actual conditions here in Halkidiki can differ quite a lot.
So, how do we do it?
For many many years I have had a personal interest in the weather and how it works. I have learned enough over time to enable me to read charts and interpret these into actual weather conditions. Then comes the local knowledge and geographical aspects that no computer model can interpret. Halkidiki is such a unique place that weather conditions can vary greatly from place to place at certain times of the year. For example here in Polygyros where our weather station is based, the temperature difference between here and the sea (which is only 10 minutes away) can be as much as 10°C! Mountains produce their own unique weather, and with such a close proximity to the sea, makes for some quite unique weather conditions.
So, the forecasts we give are based on general computer models, pressure charts, wind charts and good old local knowledge!
Please remember, I am not a professional meteorologist. I issue these forecasts to give you a general idea of the weather. I cannot be held responsible for the actual conditions on any given day that may or may not ruin your holiday plans.
